Nov, Dec, Jan Clubs find games against other Glasgow clubs U/14 and U/16. On Saturday 3rd June, Lenzie Rugby Club travelled to Mull for a return fixture with the islanders. With the pitches in great condition, beautiful weather and a good crowd, everything was set for a good afternoons’s rugby. The Mull P6 & P7 team had a convincing win in the opening game, winning 12 – 0. Mull P4 & P5 team were losing 0 – 6 at half time in the first game but the team talk by the coaches seemed to work because they scored 6 tries in the second half to earn a draw. In the final game they beat Lenzie 8 – 2. Thanks to Lenzie for making the trip up to Mull & thanks to the parents of the Mull – minis for providing such a great spread of food. (Lorn Carmichael) Even more success for Mull Rugby with this report from Lorn Carmichael and the mini rugby :-- Mull Minis win at Oban rugby tournament Sun 7th May Lochaber & Mull travelled to Oban for the final tournament of the year. Pitch was in good condition and the weather dry which brought out a number of spectators. Mull P4 & P5 won both games against Lochaber & Oban in a hard fought contest. P6 & P7 played a combined Lochaber/Oban side & won 7 – 2. A good standard of play throughout – Many thanks to Oban Lorne club for their hospitality.
Mull Minis - Inaugural fixture against Crieff On 21st January Mull P6 & 7s travelled to Crieff for the first of what will hopefully become an annual fixture. The match was favoured by dry mild weather and good home support at Crieff Rugby Club. In the first of the two games Mull played their best rugby of this season. Good solid defence supported by exceptional running and confident passing along the lines involved the whole team in the game. Their were particularly strong performances from Angus MacCallum, Patrick Carmichael and Jacob Whattam which contributed to the final score of 10 – 0 for Mull. In the second game Mull won 4- 0 Thank you to Crieff Rugby Club for their fine hospitality. We look forward to a return match later in the season.
On the10th of December Oban,Mid Argyll and Lochaber were the visiting teams at Garmony along side the hosts Mull. In the P4 & P5 section Mull who have improved dramatically since the beginning of the season drew 3-3 with Oban and beat Lochaber 5-3( Mid Argyll were unable to field a team in this section ) However Oban won the Tournament on the try count Good performances by Darron Clark, Jamie MacLean and Adam Docherty. In the P5 & P6 section Mull beat Oban 10-1, Lochaber 6-0 and finally in a very tight game with great attacking play from both sides Mull won 6-5 .Strong performances by Angus MacCallum, Rory Tait and Lewis MacLeod .The P5 & P6 team are still unbeaten this season and are looking forward to travelling to play Crieff in the new year.
Mull, Callander & Oban had a mini rugby tournament at Oban, but alas Oban were not able to field a side. Consequently Mull played Callander twice with the P4 & P5 losing to Callander but improving as the games went on. The P6 & P7 sides Mull beat Callender 3-1 & 3-0 with some great defensive work from Angus McCullum and some good attacking work from Patrick Carmichael. There is soon to be a tournament against Crieff based on Mull. |
